  • Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted this story about injured pitbulls being turned away from Chicago shelters. “Someone should explain to the Executive Director her department’s Standard Operating procedures and what it means to lie to the members of the City Council about being an ‘open shelter,'” he wrote.
  • Ald. Michael Scott Jr. (24) is hosting a Thanksgiving luncheon for veterans. 
  • Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26) agrees CPS needs an elected school board. 
  • Ald. Deb Mell (33) explained her yes vote on the budget in her newsletter: “While no city budget is perfect, I believe that, on the whole, this is a responsible and thoughtful budget that seeks to address many of the critical concerns expressed by the people of Chicago.” Ald. Proco Joe Moreno (1) explained his yes vote, too.

Pat O’Connor (40) posted a letter he initially wrote the day after the election, with some extra thoughts: “Our community, our city, has an obligation to continue to be inclusive, concerned, welcoming and tolerant.  If anyone in our neighborhood feels isolated, worried, concerned, threatened or intimidated, or if anyone is victimized by bigotry, motivated by race, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference or gender identity, then I encourage you to contact me, so that together we can seek to address the issue using all the resources we can muster through community and government resources.”
