  • Ald. Pat Dowell (3) posted pictures from the removal of the President George Washington statue at Washington Park, which was taken off its base yesterday for restoration. “Installed in 1904 after Washington Park was renamed in 1880, this is the first time the statue has been reconditioned and the base stabilized.”
  • Ald. Sophia King’s (4) health and housing fair is August 27. 
  • Ald. Susan Sadlowski Garza (10) says the 10th ward lost 32 CPS positions in the recent layoffs. “As a community, as a city we should not take this sitting down. Its time to Hold the Board of Education responsible its time we tell them NO MORE CUTS!!!!” She urged people to contact CPS about their dissatisfaction. 
  • Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) will hold a rally to take back the street corners of Brighton Park from prostitutes. 
  • Ald. David Moore (17) wrote, “You can’t justify firing CPS teachers and slashing budgets while expanding Charters and opening new schools on the Northside. We need an elected school board immediately.”
  • Ald. Michael Scott Jr. (24) shared video from the final performance of kids participating in the free Alvin Ailey summer program and posted a picture from a new, unique playground: “a musical themed playground, dedicated to the Grateful Dead, and it was paid for by our dear friends at Air Bnb!”
  • Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26) met with Mikva Youth Leaders, and says “There is no intention to change Humboldt Park’s name to Harambe. Please disregard all petitions going around pro or con.” 
  • Ald. Carlos Ramirez Rosa (35) co-hosted a back to school fair with State Sen. Iris Martinez, Rep. Jaime Andrade, and Comm. Luis Arroyo Jr. 
  • Ald. Emma Mitts’ (37) monthly pastor meeting is this weekend. 
  • Ald. Pat O’Connor’s (40) back to school and family events are this Saturday. Ald. Joe Moreno’s (1) is the same day (and he’s got a Lyft code for it). Ald. Marge Laurino’s (39) is Monday. Ald. Pat Dowell’s (3) is Aug 20.  
  • Ald. Tom Tunney (44) says the Cubs are trying to rebuild their neighborhood newsletter, but you’ve got to prove your address and sign up at the Cubs’ front office. 
  • Ald. John Arena (45) is hosting a bike riding double header this weekend. 
  • Ald. Harry Osterman (48) announced the Chicago Mosaic School is relocating to Edgewater. 
  • City Clerk Susana Mendoza toured PAWS and has the puppy pictures to prove it.
