A choked up Mayor Rahm Emanuel faced the news media Monday morning after weekend gun violence killed 12 people and wounded 63 others. Flanked by Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson, the mayor called the mayhem “unacceptable” while his rivals criticized his actions. Aldermanic candidates pushed forward with plans to pressure long time aldermen into holding a hearing on lead in drinking water, and former Gov. Pat Quinn filed 86,481 signatures to force a binding referendum to limit Chicago mayors to no more than two terms in office.
