The death of a man at the hands of police officers in South Shore prompted one group to renew its call for civilian oversight of the police department, while mayoral candidates weighed in on the controversy. Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted Gov. Bruce Rauner for promising to veto a bill that would require gun shops to be licensed by the state. In addition, aldermen are set, once again, to call out President Donald Trump’s immigration policies Tuesday at City Hall.
