  • Ald. Proco Joe Moreno (1) thanked Corporation Counsel Steve Patton for his service: “I’ll always appreciate his efforts in passing the Burge Reparations ordinance I sponsored.”
  • Ald. Pat Dowell’s (3) next “Dowell Report” episode comes out this weekend, and features guests from the “Chicago Police Department to discuss their new hiring initiative and small business owners from across the 3rd Ward to talk about their experiences owning and operating a business in the City of Chicago.”
  • Ald. Sophia King (4) and Board President Toni Preckwinkle hosted a meet and greet last night at Kilwins. 
  • Ald. Leslie Hairston (5) posed with Cardinal Blase Cupich and Mayor Emanuel. So did Ald. Joe Moore (49) and Ald. Deb Mell (33). Ald. Rick Muñoz (22) took a more candid approach. 
  • Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6) answered President Trump’s “threat” in turn: “The threat to militarize our communities will be met with the same spirit of fierce resistance as efforts to increase ‘stop-and-frisk,’ register and ban Muslims, and deport millions of immigrants.”
  • Ald. George Cardenas (12) says “We need to curb the power of the federal government if anything.”
  • Ald. David Moore (17) says of President Trump’s fed promise: “YES MR. PRESIDENT! Send in the FEDS: The Federal Dollars For Redevelopment, The Federal Dollars For Infrastructure Improvement, Federal Incentives For Manfacturing Companies To Build and Expand To Areas With High Crime And High Unemployment. Anything else is just a band aid.”

  • Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26) tweeted: “The Fed intervention #Chicago needs is funding to hire more police, to employ young ppl in risk & violence prevention prgms not martial law”
  • Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35) introduced “a Council Order directing the City’s Law Department to drop it’s wasteful and anti-democratic appeal of the Circuit Court ruling requiring public comment at City Council meetings. Democracy demands an inclusive and transparent government that allows the public an opportunity to comment at public meetings.” He also issued a statement on Chicago’s status as a sanctuary city. 
  • Ald. Marge Laurino (39) explained her support for bonds on behalf Mayfair Commons at Lawrence and Elston, which she says “has provided affordable housing for low income seniors in the 39th Ward since 1999 and the issuance of these bonds will allow much-needed maintenance and improvements to the property and will preserve the affordability of this project for years to come.”
  • Ald. Ameya Pawar (47) shared pics of the 500 people he said turned out to his refugee meeting: “We’re getting organized & #WeWillResist. Take a look, @GovRauner @realDonaldTrump”.’
  • City Treasurer Kurt Summers issued a statement on Gov. Rauner’s State of the State address. “Governor Rauner: you said you’re frustrated. Well, we are too. In these past 18 months, you have consistently treated the black, brown, poor, and working class people of Illinois as acceptable collateral damage.” He’s hosting a fundraiser for Congresswoman Robin Kelly today.
