The Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety met early Thursday afternoon to pass dozens of routine items related to handicap parking, residential parking permits, and street signs. The meeting started nine minutes late on account of Chairman Walter Burnett’s (27) tardiness. After he arrived, he asked the newly elected aldermen to introduce themselves so he could know how to pronounce their names. He still struggled with the pronunciations for Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36) and Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41). Within six minutes, the committee passed all items on pages 1-6. The rest of the items passed in bulk, pending department recommendation. At the end of the meeting, Ald. Burnett said he would hold an orientation for the new aldermen.
Committee members present: Chairman Walter Burnett (27), Ald. Jason Ervin (28), Ald. Chris Taliaferro (29), Ald. Deb Mell (33), Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36), Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41), Ald. James Cappleman (46)
