Cook County Assessor and Democratic Party Chairman Joe Berrios fell to newcomer Fritz Kaegi, conceding roughly two hours after the polls closed on Tuesday night in one of this primary cycles’ wildest races. Toni Preckwinkle secured a third term with close to 61 percent of the vote, despite charges of failed promises and continued tax hikes from her challenger, while five new commissioners are on their way to joining the board.
